First Holy Communions at St Patrick’s

On Saturday evening at St Patrick’s Church five children received Holy Communion for the very first time.

The First Holy Communicants took part by reading the Prayers of the Faithful

and bringing up the offerings in the Offertory Procession.

Just before the Final Blessing and Dismissal the First Holy Communicants received their certificates.

There was a group photo outside after Mass in the sunshine!

Corpus Christi

The Solemnity of The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi) was celebrated on Sunday.

The Feast of Corpus Christi (Latin for “Body of Christ”) is the Roman Rite liturgical solemnity celebrating the reality of the body and blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, in the Eucharist—known as transubstantiation.

Two months earlier, the Eucharist is observed on Maundy Thursday in a somber atmosphere leading to Good Friday.

Corpus Christi emphasizes the joy of the Eucharist being the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

Evening sunlight!

After a very busy Sunday in the Parish, the evening sunlight shines through the west windows into a calm and still St Mary’s Church.

Looking towards to sunlight!

Deanery Confirmations

The St Peter’s Deanery Mass with Confirmations took place at St Peter’s Cathedral in Lancaster yesterday afternoon.

Please remember in your prayers those from our parish who were confirmed:

On Sunday we celebrated the great Solemnity of Pentecost!

This Solemnity in the Universal Catholic Church commemorates the Descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles, fifty days after the Resurrection of Christ.

Red vestments were worn at Mass and there was also various signs and symbols in red around the Churches including banners, lectern falls and even hymn numbers and candles!
