There were some lovely cakes in the Parish Hall at a fundraising event for St John’s Hospice yesterday. Thank you to those who baked the cakes!
Just a short description of the event in the photo above.
Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Sorrows which is significant for St Mary’s Church. Traditionally this Feast was called The Seven Sorrows of Our Lady and when you look at the stained glass window which dominates above the Sanctuary and Main Altar you can see seven swords circling around Our Lady holding the body of her son Jesus.
The fifth Sorrowful Mystery of the rosary is The Crucifixion and Death our our Lord. When we look at that image in the window it is a reminder to us of that Sorrowful Mystery as we celebrate today’s feast.
Our Lady of Sorrows – Pray for us!
